The Kitchen

This is the before shot of the kitchen, taken the day we got the keys 2 weeks ago. That's my "little" brother at the back there. He's not peeing. He's cleaning. Thought I'd clear that up after a few too many questions...
So, we're moving in Saturday! After 3 weeks of endless decorating, fixing badly done jobs, leveling, drilling and car trips full of stuff.... We can finally move into our first home!
And now my Kitchen is all up & running...
As of last night - my pantry is full, my shelves are full and my beautiful cupboards are full.
To celebrate - I'm dedicating this enter blog to our new kitchen - thanks to all those who offered advice and tips - as you can see - I took a lot of them on!

Window side view
(still waiting on our blinds to be delivered, it's cause it's such a big window)

This little cupboard holds all the salt & pepper shakers. It's a bit of a running joke. When we first said we were saving for a house - people kept buying up s&p shakers as gifts. Ironically, it comes in handy. There's garlic salt, garlic pepper, normal salt, normal pepper, Peri Peri Salt & others! So much, it needs it's own cupboard...
Hanging from it are my measuring cups, Sugar thermometer and sieve.
That waiter corkscrew holder just makes me Laugh - it's from Kris' Nan. Look at his mustache. Brilliant.

Temptation corner. I have cute little sweetie bags hanging from the bottom shelve - like a pick 'n' mix station. It's proven very handy when moving. How awesome are those popcorn holders? They're re-usable!

My beloved pantry. These (hopefully sturdy) shelves contain over 20 jars of dry ingredients such as split peas, cous cous, rice, lentils, chickpeas, etc, over 20 cans of ready-soaked pulses, beans & legumes, cans of fruit, another 12 jars of tea, over 30 different spices, 2 wooden boxes of sachet tea, coffee, 2 boxes sally lunn's tea, another kettle, lots of canned tuna, 2 teapots, a can of biscuits, 2kg of oats, muesli, cereal, 6 jars of pasta, cartons of tomatoes, a tin with more spices, pots of homemade spice mixes, some juice, some marinating rubs, 12 bottles of oil, 6 different types of vinegar and all my baking stuff. Oh and lots of dog food. Not to mention the big ass box of crisps under the shelf....

In case you missed it last time around - here's the other pictures from last week from before we finished.

Obviously it's tiring work...
My two tired helpers (one eating dropped pasta off the floor, the other putting stuff on the top shelf) taking a nap in our soon-to-be-finished dining room.

I'll be back up and running in the week with some new recipes - thank you for all the emails & comments whilst I've been away! Why not check out the updated recipes page? It should load a little faster now.
I am so jealous right now!

ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhh that pantry. I have serious pantry envy. We moved to a new house 4 years ago, and there's a greater likelihood of pigs flying than ever moving again......alas, there's no pantry in our new place, so no hope of ever having a pantry. I'm delighted for you though -- your kitchen is SO organized. Could you come help me organize my cupboards?
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks like an abasolutely dream my friend, it is so cute and organised and AWESOME :D
